There are firsts for everything. So for Tamara and Michael’s wedding, I was lucky to be able to travel to Hobart. I was even more fortunate, that their ceremony was held at the Cascade Brewery and Garden. Not only was there a wonderful view, there was also some good beer!
The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel. A block from Hobart’s buzzing waterfront, this relaxed hotel in a redbrick, turn-of-the-century former wool store, is a 5-minute walk from Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, and a 14-minute walk from Salamanca Market.
From humble beginnings as a sawmilling operation in the foothills of Mount Wellington, Cascade is now the country’s oldest operating brewery. The business was founded by English settlers, Peter Degraves and brother-in-law, Major McIntosh, who arrived on Tasmania’s shores in 1824.
