Rachel & Jacob

August 11, 2017

This one had all the ingredients of a perfect wedding. Immaculate weather, a house of God, breathtaking set piece locations, and one beautiful, madly-in-love couple, I couldn’t separate for long. Rachel & Jacob’s wedding was an amazing story, of a couple, with strong family ties, a profound faith in God, and an intense love, that seemed to fill every single frame.

FAVOURITE DETAIL: “My favourite detail was all the flower arrangements. The bridesmaids and myself went to the flower market and bought all the flowers for the day, then made all the bouquets, arrangements as well as the flowers for the tables and the pews. I was really happy with how they all turned out and was really proud that we achieved such beautiful arrangements.”

THE DRESS: “The dress was found at a boutique in Mosman called “Marry Me Bridal”. My dress was actually the first dress I had ever tried on but I wasn’t sure if it was the right one since it was only my first one so I didn’t get it straight away. After trying on multiple dresses after at multiple boutiques and hating all of them, I decided to go back and get the dress I tried on first. The overall experience was fun to try on so many dresses but was stressful when it came to making the final decision, but I was so happy with my final choice.”

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES: “Be prepared that it does sometimes take a lot of research to find a place you are both happy with. Make sure you always ask for help when you need it and if possible, work as a team. Rachel and I were different in that I was quite actively involved in the organising, especially in the big-ticket items like venues and catering. I couldn’t imagine the stress she would have had to do everything herself so I think sharing the load, even if it’s with a sister or something is huge. Try to have plans in place so you aren’t bothered on the day if anything goes wrong. Sharon from One Weddings was our on-the-day wedding coordinator and did an amazing job to do everything on the day so we had no worries. I highly recommend her, without her, the day could never have been as amazing as it was. Also, have a budget and try to stick to it. We kept below our budget but it takes work and commitment to do so. Rachel and I also went to Hillsong College and did a 5 week pre-marriage course and we couldn’t recommend it any higher, it was fantastic and made us consider so many new things and prepared us so much for marriage. It allowed us to start conversations we might not have had and really connect before the wedding.”
